Concrete Leveling Services in Casper, Wyo.

Concrete is heavy, and if the soil under your concrete slab isn’t properly compacted or has started to erode, the concrete will begin to sink, settle, and often crack. The solution is concrete leveling with polyurethane foam, also known as concrete lifting, polyjacking or slab jacking.

Concrete leveling with polyurethane foam is a fast, stable, and effective way to resolve cracked, uneven, and sloping concrete. If you have trip hazards on your Casper property, it’s time to take care of them with poly concrete lifting.

What Can We Use Concrete Lifting On in Casper

Most of your standard types of concrete slabs can be precisely lifted and leveled using polyurethane foam. These include

  • Sidewalks
  • Driveways
  • Patios
  • Pool Decks
  • Air Conditioner or Garbage Bin Pads
  • Garage Slabs

If you have a question about whether poly concrete lifting would be right for your concrete slab, contact us, and our experienced concrete leveling technicians will offer their advice.

How Does Concrete Leveling Work?

While different jobs will have different requirements, in general these are the steps that we take when doing a concrete leveling job.

  1. We assess the slab and determine where the foam needs to be injected in order to properly lift and level the concrete.
  2. Dime-sized holes are drilled into the concrete at the injection points.
  3. The polyurethane concrete lifting foam material is injected into those holes and expands in the area below. This will then hydraulically raise the slab and lift it back to level. The foam expands rapidly and solidifies almost as quickly.
  4. We constantly monitor the progress in order to avoid over-lifting.
  5. The holes are filled and any excess foam is removed in order to leave the site clean

Concrete leveling with foam is a fast, effective, and wallet-friendly way to resolve issues with your concrete.

Advantages of Concrete Leveling

  1. Price: If you have a sinking slab that is starting to crack, the problem is only going to get worse. The only options are concrete leveling or waiting until you have to replace the concrete entirely. The price tag on lifting a driveway slab, for instance, is lower than the cost of pouring an entirely new slab.
  2. Convenience: Most concrete leveling jobs can be finished fast. We get in, we lift the slab, we clean up and we’re done. The curing time is also minimal. By the time we’re done cleaning up and loading up our gear, your slab will likely to ready to use. Compare that with the time it takes to get a whole new slab installed. You have the demolition, shoring up the base to keep it from sinking again, pouring the concrete and waiting for it to dry.
  3. The Foam Won’t Break Down: The polyurethane foam used in concrete leveling doesn’t break down in the presence of water or chemicals found in the soil. It can be affected by sunlight, but as it is underground, that shouldn’t be an issue. This means the foam will continue to provide support for the slab as long as the slab is there.

Why ‘Polyjacking’ is Superior to Mudjacking

poly concrete liftingMudjacking used to be the main way to lift and level concrete. And it did (and still does) work. There is a reason, however, that polyurethane foam is replacing the mudjacking slurry as the concrete lifting agent of choice.

First, concrete lifting with polyurethane foam, often called polyjacking, is a much less invasive process. In polyjacking, the contractor drills a few, small holes into the concrete that can be easily filled and covered up.

Because of the nature of the mudjacking slurry, however, the holes must be larger, making them more difficult to cover up. The size also places greater stress on slabs that in many cases are already cracking.

Additionally, the equipment used for poly concrete leveling is not as heavy. This allows for easier access and prevents any damage that could be caused by the weight of the mudjacking equipment.

The polyurethane foam typically cures in about 15 minutes. By the time cleanup is done, you will likely be able to start using the concrete slab. Since the mudjacking slurry often involves a cement component, it requires a far greater time to cure.

Finally, the polyurethane foam is impervious to water and any chemicals. It will not break down while underground, period. Therefore, it is a permanent solution so long as other problems don’t arise. That isn’t the case with mudjacking, which often needs to be redone every few years.
